Garden Studio

Craigleith, Edinburgh

This simple, elegant, timber framed garden studio is designed for well-being and home working, without costing the earth. Locally sourced, natural materials include an oak frame, larch cladding, wood fibre insulation and a green roof.

A studio space made for table tennis and Pilates, is fronted with a glass wall that slides open onto broad decking. The home office is more private, with a door that opens onto a secluded seating recess from which to enjoy the garden.

Built by Bothanna Cabins, they brought a considered craftsmanship to the project, along with experience in prefabrication, which made for an efficient and economical construction.

The Clients are delighted that the new building has brought them closer to their garden.

Winner of the Edinburgh Architectural Association Wood Award 2024 for championing the use of timber.

Kris was fantastic throughout the project both on the design and project management side. We were continually impressed by his ideas, thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He was always on top of everything to make sure the build went smoothly. We are extremely pleased with our new building, and would highly recommend Kris to anybody in need of an architect.
